Things to consider when selecting Diaper Bags

The Diaper Bag is one of those neccesities that has changed a considerable bit over the years. In todays post I want to take a quick look at some things you might want to think about prior to buying one for yourself or as a gift for a new parent.

Parents know that the right diaper bags can make all the difference. Some may value the more functional or require that the bag be fashionable, but the main point is to get a diaper bag that helps you and that you are happy with.

When I did a survey of the bags out there on the market right now I thought, "Where were these cool bags when we were dragging diaper bags around?"

I will present BabyStyles Top diaper bags from various manufacturers, many of which do not actually look like diaper bags.

Funtionality - Does that bag work for the situation that you find yourself in. Some situations call for a bag that has the extra space for items that will be needed during a long outting away from the house. While other bags are small and have a quick trip in mind. There are bags that do not really look like diaper bags at all and are designed to be cordinated with what you are wearing.

Stylishness - Some may not see the value of style as it applies to diaper bags, but depending on the parant this may be a very important feature. There are some hip and chick mommies out there that demand style. It is nice to be able to carry a bag that matches your clothes, or your babies and also has some other stylish features.

Characteristics that fall under stylishness are color, patterns, and the type material that the bag is made of. Color and prints can rage from bubblegum to camouflage. And material can be anything from canvas to coduroy.

Under functionality also would fall features such as bags that are designed specifically for dads.

Price - For most people there isn't an unlimited supply of money so price is a consideration when thinking of buying a new bag. And also becasue the range of prices is large, it requires a little attention to ensure that you get the features that you want for a price that you can afford. Because of functionality concerns it might be neccessary to have more then one bag.

Re-use value - This might be grouped with price as one of those considerations that will help you keep some of your money in your pocket. If you can use the bag as your child grows that is a good feature and if you plan on having more kids it is also good to have a bag that can last.

Easy of Carrying - While this is a feature that you may not think about it will help you to have a bag that can be carried in several different ways. The more straps and handles the better for some situations. If you travel with your baby this also may be an important consideration for you. There are diapers bags that have backpack designs as well as others that could second as a nap sack. Think carefully about how you want to carry your bag and choose one that meets your needs.

The number of pockets and compartments - This feature like all others is a matter of personal taste and a function of how you will be using the bag. Some moms report that they do not like bags with pockets while others fill that this is the most important feature of all. Again, there are many different designs and you just need to think about how you will use the bag and that will help you make a good choice.
