Another social network which is aimed at mothers has just recently received financing according to Mashable.com.
CafeMom has closed a $12 million financing round co-led by Highland Capital Partners and Draper Fisher Jurvetson, who also led a $5 million round in August. The additional funding comes on the heels of CafeMom becoming the most trafficked site for women (by page views) according to numbers released by comScore back in November.
This news piqued my interest, so I surfed over to CafeMom to see what's shaking. According to their "about page";
Launched in late 2006, CafeMom is already the largest social-networking/community site for moms AND the leading women's/parenting site on the internet - passing mainstream sites like ivillage, babycenter, and Marthastewart on the engagement metrics that matter most. With more than 120MM pageviews / month and 6MM visits / month, CafeMom was ranked the #8 fastest-growing site in 2007 by compete.com and has recently won awards from Mashable and AlwaysOn as one of the leading social networking sites.
So if you enjoy social networks and have not checked out CafeMom you might want to.
